OK...now I'm pissed *Update*

**update** So, I checked my account tonight and the dispute status said it was waiting information from me. WTF? So I called them and the two people I spoke with were way more helpful. Apparently the lady that "helped" me last night totally messed up in how she handled it. Since I had it confirmed it was fraudulent, it should have gone right to the fraud department to get fixed. The first guy transferred me there and the fraud department reversed the charge while I was on the phone. They also advised to not go to the persons address (and no, I didn't say anything to the effect that I wanted to..lol..I guess they get that a lot). Hopefully its all taken care of now. I still hope that Ipad Mini broke the first day!!

About a month ago I noticed a charge on my AMEX from Apple that I didn't make. It was for close to $500. So, I filed online right away saying I did not recognize the charge and put AMEX to work to investigate. I got a call...during work mind you which I'm pretty annoyed about... from Apple asking about the charge and if I made it. I told them no and they even said on the phone that the email it was sent to was sent back, which indicates fraud so he would close it as fraud. I get a message today from AMEX saying the charge stands because they were provided a receipt. I open what they send and it has an address to an apartment complex that doesn't match our home address (we have a house), a different phone number and a different email. But somehow the charge stands?!? After the vendor called and said it was fraud?!? So, I called AMEX back (sat on hold for awhile) and am re-disputing the charge as straight fraud (in case it wasn't clear last time) and I want it FIXED!! I'm so very pissed. When I found that charge, I also immediately cancelled that card number and got a new card reissued. So now I've wasted personal time at home with DH AND time at work to deal with this and I'm getting SO VERY pissed. If AMEX does not drop this charge, I will let them know I'm cancelling an account with them I've had since 2002 (and never a dispute, late payment or over the limit issue). I was impressed with the customer service up until this point, but I have no reason to stick with them if this charge is not gone. I really hope whoever bought that Ipad mini broke it the first day.

Anyone else had to deal with credit card fraud?

I am sorry, that is so frustrating!

I had my checkbook stolen many years ago, it was a nightmare, I had warrants out for my arrest for bounced checks, since I told my bank not to pay. I had to get a lawyer.

Sounds like amex is taking lessons from eBay and paypal. Very disappointing. Hope you can get it resolved.

No fun. I hope it gets fixed soon. We had someone steal DH's debit card and they charged $700 between gas stations and a casino in Oklahoma. Thankfully the bank reversed all the charges.

I hope it gets fixed soon.  That's ridiculous for AMEX to keep the charges standing - especially since Apple agreed that the charges are fraudulant.  Even though there was a receipt provided, that does not automatically mean the charge is valid.  That's laziness.

Since you have a shipping address I would go to the local police station and file charges.

Mine has only ever been with a bank account and the bank is really good about it.  I almost filed a fraudulent purchase once until DH remembered he bought something and accidentally used my card.

Oh my gosh!! I would be furious also! What a joke. I hope it gets fixed.

Hubby's debit card was used in China recently at a tourist attraction. We've never been there. Needless to say, that $34 was given back to us.

Dont think I'm not tempted. pissing off a pregnant woman is not a good idea. I would have to talk to the complex first though because it was delivered to the office and since it was shipped under my name they clearly did not check id. Not sure if the thief just chose a random apt number and picked it up before the person in the apt was even notified

I'm going to see who the apt complex shows as picking it up this weekend. charges might be coming after that.
