summer months

If you're a 9-5er (or more like an 8-6er) at work...how do you handle the summer months when kids are out of school?  I'd like to enroll them in summer activities, but most are during the day.  DH is no help -- he works loooong hours with inconsistent days off.  We have no family in the area.  Looking for some creative ideas 'cause I'm stumped :/

My friend found a responsible high school senior student to drive her kids to all camps and summer practice & watch them for just a few hours a day for the cash. It worked out well for her.

I agree with the pp. I would look into day camps in the area and a high school or college student looking to make a little money over the summer.

Our daycare offers summer camp for kids from kindergarten-12 yrs. They are open "daycare" hours of 6a-6p which helps.

Our YMCA camps offer before and after care too.

Mine is still in daycare, so here's a bump :)
