Poor Steph, No Sticker

At karate last night, Steph was having trouble staying focused and listening.  She was actually being disruptive, which isn't really like her, but I think she had excess energy after being sick.  So the teacher warned her, then put her in a corner for a minute.  She rejoined the class and did good for the remainder of the time.  When it came time for the kids to get stickers, the teacher explained that she didn't get one since she was disruptive.  She was disappointed but not too sad.  So now she knows that she needs to try really hard tomorrow to listen and she can get a sticker.

Sad of course, but a great lesson!  Glad the instructor stuck to his guns.

Since the big concepts they are trying to teach at this age are discipline and respect, I would have a problem if he had let it go.  And she knows to try harder next time.

Those opportunities are great experiences for learning. Sounds like she figured that out! Smart girl :)

It's an important lesson for her to learn and I'm sure she won't forget it any time soon.

More kids need to learn this lesson. Good for them, and you, for not giving in
