DH and I go on date nights at home, but it usually involves dinner locally and a movie, that's about all we can really fit into the 4-hour time-slot for PNO at DD's daycare or about as much as we want to spend for a babysitter and going into Seattle would eat up 60-90 minutes of that, driving. So our dates are kinda lame. Oh, we sometimes go to the Casino nearby, that's fun, but it's expensive and we come home stinking!
Our favorite band, Elbow, is touring this spring and we were VERY excited to see the dates. their last tour 2 years ago didn't make it to the PNW at all, so sad. it's been since May 2008 that we've seen them, WAY too long! So their "Seattle" date is a big festival actually nearly 3 hours FROM Seattle, so that's a no-go. I'm too old for a festival and it's freakin $325 for the 3-day weekend, which, we went to the festival (was one day that year) for our "honeymoon" in 2004 and it was over 100 degrees, it's basically Desert! it was nasty hot and just not a good experience. So I looked at Portland dates because his folks live about an hour further so we could drop DD off and go to the show. WOOHOO! May 24! a SATURDAY night on a long weekend which will thrill MIL and on top of that, SIL is due around there too! PERFECTION! not to mention, We're going to make an event of it and include a hotel stay in Portland and go in early, shop and get dinner before the show. I'm REALLY excited. We haven't even been to a concert since August 2012. we used to go fairly often, but school nights and babysitting have ruled most out. Yeah, I have to wait 3 months, but that's ok. something to look forward to!
