In December I took on an additional job task at my job (been here 9 years). This new tasks adds 6 hours to my total monthly job duties. I just spoke with the Director of Operations asking if there was going to be financial compensation for the addition responsiblity and he asked me what I had in mind. I'm wondering if asking for an additional $250-300 a month is out of line. I ran a caculation on my hourly rate times 6 hours and it was around $150 a month at my current rate. Bahh I'm horrible at this. I hope you guys can give me some suggestions.

I'm an Accounting Assistant who:

Processes payroll

Accounts Payable

Accounts Receivable

and just took over handling credit cards for all the employees

Do you get annual raises? Cost of living raises? What is that percentage wise?

Annual raise of 3%. I'm non exempt. Annual raise this year did not reflect the additional job duty being added.

I would say ask for $200 and be willing to settle for 150. job descriptions change as needed and not all additional duties warrant an increase.

Thanks. I agree with your statement that not all duties warrant an increase. Over the last year I have taken on a few new jobs and increase was never even brought up. This time my direct supervisor told me to ask.
