Today we're "visiting" celticreverie in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Here's why she thinks her town is a great place to go:

"I live in Fort Walton Beach FL. You should definitely come to our town! We live about 10 minutes from the beautiful gulf of mexico. Our beaches are the whitest and our water is the bluest around. The area is absolutely beautiful.

We are also located around 20 minutes from Destin FL, a beach town where you can occasionally spot celebrities in their vacation homes.

Starting June 5 we are celebrating our Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival. 4 days of fun and pirates! We have a parade monday June 9th. This festival celebrates Captain Billy Bowlegs landing here and trying to take over our town.

Mainstreet here is hopping for Billy Bowlegs. People choose sides, whether it be Pirates or the Mayors militia. It is just a great time for family fun!

We are also home to an Indian Temple Mound and Museum, it is great to learn about our Native American History. The mound area is just beautiful!

We also have a gulfarium on Okaloosa Island, which is beautiful! They have dolphin shows, and it is just a fun place for families and adults. The dolphin shows get you soaked!"

We loved the Summer House when it sat on the water in the old house. Were very sorry to see it go. We also love Old Bay Steamer. If you go to Ft. Walton, that is a must! Unfortunately, with gas prices the way they are this year we will not be going to Flordia which makes me very sad.

Don't forget to mention the sunsets....and how different the beaches are from the Texas Gulf Coast area!! *Cheer buttons...birth announcements....or just for fun. 	by texmoma on Jun. 5, 2008 at 11:34 AM YAY ~ already put bathing suites on and sun screen...lol..I grew up in mobile, Alabama and have been to Ft.Walton many many times.In fact in just a few days I will be going back home to see family and friends and plan on taking kids and neice for a day at the beach.
