How do you pick what you want? Do you have a 'go to" theme in mind..like .maybe a set of fruit..or something to make a child's card with? Something for that season?.. Something special..or something you can/will use again and again?

I am lurking around tonight ..lusting after stamps sets..and I really am having difficulty chosing ONE..( as in "just one")......so what is your buying process?

I usually get whatever strikes my fancy at the time unless I am looking for something special.

In the stores, it has to be 40% off. Then I ask myself how versatile it is -- or how many times I will use it.

The ones online though - I am in the same boat as you. I love them all and get nothing...but I did get some stamps from the greeting farm - cause 2 of the boys look like my boys :)

I've started to buy only what I like. I do try to only get the ones at the local scrap stores like Michael's etc on sale. I brought a bunch of background ones when I started to do my SU workshops. I was lucky and brought a bunch from a gal who decided to stop cardmaking. Now with the workshops you have to spend $25 so I buy my supplies that way and I'll benefit with free merchandise when it is my turn to host the workshop. I have a huge wishlist for that day.

For me it's more of what stamps I'm making. I'm usually inspired by what's going on around me....mainly my son. I guess that's why I have more boy themed stamps. I do get requests like a recent set  of sets that are Alice in Wonderland themed. Unfortunately I'm not confident in my people drawing abilities so it's mainly cheshire cat, teapot with dormouse, mad hatters hat...but I'm working on ideas for Alice. I love versatility and try to incorporate them into my stamps. I feel like I'm not wasting money when they can do more than just one idea.

I love to buy sets from vendors like close to my heart, stamping up & angel co.. I almost never buy block stamps @ micheals I am to thrifty i guess I cant see paying 7.00-14.00 @ micheals for 1 stamp when I can usually pay $14-22 for a whole set of 6-15 pieces ect..

I also buy sets that I know will be useful in a LO.

I recently have fallen in Love w/ CC designs & magnolia stamps, when they go on sale I will pick up a few here & there but they are more $$ @ $6-12 a stamp

I have a lot of SU stamps. I won a tricky tray basket last year and now have a SU dealer that I do workshops and classes with so I get them when she has sales etc. I have to ask you if you have the cute set with the kids and bodies etc that you use the stampamijig with. I want that one next.
