Hi, I'm Kristine.
I'm a SAHM, unless I'm substitute teaching. My DH is a minister. My DD is 9 and has left princesshood to becoming a real tween, fashion minded, social, a girly girl, who also loves sports. My DS is 8 and he is an author, artists, inventor and presently obsessed w/Pokemon.
Scrapbooking is my #1 thing to do. I also love to make cards, cook, garden, read and camp. Our whole family enjoys sports, travel and getting together w/relatives, since the closest ones are 4 hours away. We are avid Packer fans! (living in MN, but on the border)
Two weeks before school is out for summer. Where does the time go? I have to say I love, love, love being a mom. I loved the cuddly babies, nursing, and all the oohs and ahs of people looking at my newborn delights. I loved the milestones and stages of learning those first few years. I loved no longer needing to carry a diaper bag. I love not needing to buckle/unbuckle car seats. Now, we are in the chasing for school activities and I love seeing the kids grow in sports, plays, music or whatever they like to explore. I'm looking forward to watching them grow each year, and yet---time seems to go so fast. I take the advice to enjoy the moments w/ my kids b/c the time is fleeting.
I'm working hard on finishing up my swapping obligations for now and look forward to doing several pages. My dd will be in softball again this summer. Both kids have swimming lessons. The piano lessons will go on hold for the summer for my dd, but we're hoping she will still practice and not regress over summer.
I've got most of my flower garden's under control, but 1 new area still needs work. The herbs are doing well- I had volunteer cilantro and dill come back. (annuals) I needed to replace my tarragon. My vegetable garden will be about 75% planted by the end this weekend. We are holding off a couple weeks for the beans and cucumbers so they are not peaking during our vacation, but rather produce after we're back.
In July we are going to CA for vacation and a family reunion. I'm excited as Carrie (carebear) and I plan to meet in person, as we've become friends on SGW.
Confirmation is next week Sunday, so that will ease up my dh's schedule too. Several of the church organizations take off or at least reduce the # of meetings during the summer, so that is nice for us.
My husband's fender bender, which was one of the financial stresses I had mentioned at our house, won't cost as much as we had thought for repair---and that is good news.
I'm a SAHM to full time ;) with to a 7 mouth old and 4 yare old.
I like being at home but sometims I want to get out LOL :)
Hi, Kristine!
It's nice to know a little bit more about you after all this "swapping" time. Wow, your husband is a minister. That's awesome. May I ask which denomination? My husband is not a minister, but he has led inner-church groups in the past, young adults' ministry (when we were "young" adults which we're certainly not any longer) and men's ministry.
I also have one daughter and one son. She's thirteen, and he'll be 10 in January. I'm also a SAHM, and I homeschool my children. That makes us both teachers, although my degree is in business. Homeschooling takes up the majority of my day, so I have very little time for scrapbooking. When I get the chance, I love to be able to scrapbook; it is a favorite hobby. I do feel blessed to have my kiddos home with me, though, and I love teaching them and relearning along with them. I love what I do.
We seem to have a lot in common! Except, of course, we're from Louisiana and are LSU and Saints fans!

and for college teams, I'm a Badger, but my husband is a Cornhusker. I was glad the Badgers won handedly this season.
My husband is a WELS Lutheran minister, very conservative. I've thought about homeschooling on several occasions, but my kids go to a Lutheran school that is about 15 miles from our home, so that is a great alternative for us. If our other choice was public, I'd probably homeschool. I do think there are a lot of benefits to it.
Just wanted to say, that as admin. it's obvious I'll be posting and participating in more than enough to qualify for this, but Carrie, you don't need to include me in future "prizes" for this forum. (less $ for you) Thanks anyways! I'll keep saying hi and try to get a bit personal w/ some posts in this forum so people can get to know one another better.
I've never visited a Lutheran Church. Did it begin with Martin Luther and the 99 theses? We attend an Assembly of God church which is also pretty conservative. I do wear pants and make-up and go to the movies, but I'm more conservative than most people I know in my personal views. I don't judge; I just believe in the Bible as our guide book for every day life. I'm not perfect (not nearly), but I strive to make Biblical choices. Anyway, life is good! I love getting to know new people.

Yes, it is named after Martin Luther. We did just celebrate the Reformation, which we remember the historic 99 theses, which he nailed on the church door on the evening before All Saints Day, (Halloween-evening(ween) before (hallow) holy day/holiday) which really launched most protestant church bodies. (non-Catholic, yet Christian) Now days there is quite a difference between the denominations of the Lutheran Church. ELS, WELS and most LCMO are the more conservative and the ELCA is quite liberal.
We base all our beliefs on the Bible. We feel it can stand alone; all that is needed for salvation can be found in the scriptures. We believe the Bible is w/o errors and the very words were inspired by God. Without getting into too much doctrine, which you really didn't ask for, I'll just state a few basics of our Lutheran church teachings. We believe that we are saved by God's grace alone. There is nothing sinners can/need to do to receive faith, but it is a gift from God. We do however, have the power to reject that gift. We believe that God is triune and Jesus Christ is and always has been God. We believe that Jesus is the only way to heaven and all who do not believe this, will be condemned. Jesus paid for our sins by coming to earth as a baby, living a perfect life in our place and then died on the cross for our sins. We know he rose again on Easter and we will rise to live eternally in heaven. We practice infant Baptism and Holy Communion. We only allow men to be pastors, although women can serve the church in many other ways. We do have a few women deaconesses, serving special ministries. (The ELCA does have women pastors now.) Well, that's briefly who we Lutherans are. In some areas of the country, we are not well represented. In the Midwest, a lot of German and Norwegian and Polish descendants came here and had Lutheran backgrounds, so you see a lot more of us in this area.
BTW. I wear pants/jeens/shorts as long as they're descent. I also wear make-up and we are allowed to drink, but not get drunk. We dance and play cards and a lot of those things some people made taboo. God doesn't say it's wrong, just to do all things to his glory.
I didn't realize there were so many divisions of the Lutheran denomination. You're right, I actually don't personally know someone else who attends a Lutheran Church. Down South where I live is predominately Catholic and Baptist. I am also a firm believer in everything you stated as doctrine. Those are the things which make up the foundation of Christianity. We attend an Assembly of God church where we currently live because their doctrine is also sound and this particular church has an excellent children's ministry. I don't necessarily agree with everything in which they believe and practice/don't practice. As I said, we do go to the movies and sometimes enjoy country music. We also dance at weddings, and my daughter and I enjoy the Wii Gold's Gym Dance Workout. I don't believe that a person has to pray in tongues once he is saved (as AG does), although I do believe that the prayer language from the Holy Spirit (not the spiritual gift) is available to all believers. (I have personally experienced this ability for the Holy Spirit to pray through me as in Romans 8, and I know it is real and not my doing.) I do believe that they actually drank wine in the Bible and not unfermented grape juice, although I personally don't drink alcohol for my own reasons. I'm not sure about women as pastors. I do know that God chose a woman, Deborah as a judge, but he has also set up an order of Jesus then husband then wife. (Yes, I do also believe in submission, and I have had to repent on more than one occasion--lol.) I know that I enjoy and have reaped from the teachings of Joyce Meyer and Marilyn Hickey, but I don't know if I would feel comfortable under a woman pastor same as I'm not comfortable with the idea of a woman as president. We dedicated our children as infants and allowed them to decide when they were ready for baptism after they had made their individual choice to accept salvation. I do have peace attending this Assembly of God Church, though, and we did allow God to lead us as we visited. I feel that we are where God wants us to be in this season. I just always test things by the Word no matter where I am or who I am listening to. I identify myself as a Christian, a born again believer, and not by a particular denomination--not that I feel there is anything wrong with being associated with the denomination of your choice, that's just where we are in our walk with the Lord. (I was actually a Catholic growing up--until I was about 23, and most of my family are still Catholic.) When asked, my response is usually that I am a full-gospel non-denominational Christian and attend an Assembly of God church. I always go to the Word for myself and allow His Word and the Holy Spirit to dictate my beliefs. I'm glad to know more about the Lutheran church. It sounds like a wonderful place to worship as well as learn and grow as a Christian. Thanks for the correspondence. I guess I should have pm'ed you the question, though. Sorry if this is too personal of a "conversation" for this site. Another passion of mine is spiritual discussions which most people try hard to avoid (and I can understand and respect that). It's really nice to make a new friend! (~: Rachel

I finished all the swaps I had to do for the year! So now I can have more fun at our party!
(Well, I still need to do the calendar swap, but I'm taking a bit of a break first-actually waiting for some supplies.)
I earned my silver membership recently. This is officially my 1,633 post to SGW. I'm sure I qualify as active. :) Carrie, were you gone all weekend? I kept looking for your contributions to the party. Now, I have to do some.
