New Ebay Seller...

Hi ladies! I'm new here, and new to Ebay. DH and I have recently relocated to a small town with zilch to offer with regard to jobs. I simply can't afford to work outside of the home and justify the cost of childcare and fuel expense involved. I need to get a job as our bank account has taken a turn for the worse.

I've sold on Ebay before, and someone has recommended that I open an Ebay store. I have the perfect set up for such a business inside of my home with a separate entrance to my finished basement... lots of shelving to store items up for sale, and a separate play room for my young children to play while I am working. We also recently subscribed to highspeed wireless internet which I understand is very important when running an Ebay business.

My first step is going to be selling personal items and test the waters prior to advertising and subscribing to the basic $15.95 Ebay Store fee. Once I see if it's right for us and worth the investment, then we will open our basement as an actual store.

I'm looking for information I might not be aware of with regard to listing tips, shipping, and payment options.

Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

What kind of answer is that!!!

You may want to look at USE.com for Free Templates and TurboLister. You use both together.

Hopefully when Edee comes back to this planet...she may do a Sticky Post on USE.com and some basic instructions on how to use it.

You should bookmark the following USPS.com webpages:

Try to mail most items Priority where possible.

Flat Rate Priority boxes are great if your item weighs over 1lb as it's a Flat Rate price for anywhere in the country or international.  International is more expensive though.

Priority boxes are FREE!.

Payment Paypal only or maybe Postal Money Orders. (Thanks for that tip Audra!).

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Good Luck, Sharon

LOL Edee.  I admit that I saw this question earlier and passed it by...Very sorry.  It's just such a broad question and I didn't have the time to answer it fully.  I do much better with a couple specific questions at a time.

nbr1sahm :0)

Ask some specific questions on what you want to know and I will answer them as time allows.  At least a couple a day :0)  You're definately off to a good start with a plan which is imprtant!!

Hi

If you've sold on ebay before, you should know most of the basics, sounds like you want to know more about a store. I'm not a big seller, I have about 100 irems in my store and usually 20 or so auctions each week. What doesn't sell on auction after a couple trys, I move to my store.  I think if it were me starting out,  I would do the auction for a few weeks then open a store, this is August already and in 2 months the Christmas sales start and you want to be ready for that.  I have used turbo lister (from ebay)  to write up my auctions, it's free.  I write up auctions on turbo lister all week then upload them to ebay all at one time so they all go off on Sunday evening.

Anyway, good luck and we're all here for you.
