  • My name is Julie, and I am a single mother with 2 ADHD boys, ages 9 and 11.  Daniel is in 6th grade and Andrew in 3rd.

They both do fairly well with their medication.  Daniel has been identified as highly gifted, and attends a gifted/talented middle school.  He easily learns the material, but is failing every class at the moment thanks to that darn paper work.  I am of the opinion that they should evaluate him based on what he learns, not on how well he does the busywork, but I can't really get them to listen to me.  The goal of an education should be to learn, and when he is tested, he makes A's.  It is the other homework that he just really struggles with.

Andrew is doing very well.  Once in a while he skips a homework assignment, but for the most part, he is an A and B student.  He attends a math/science magnet.

Both boys are busy with scouts; cub and boy scouts.  They are both on a summer track team.  Andrew also plays soccer.  Daniel is active in his school choir.  Both are busy with church activities as well.

We live in Texas, along with 3 cats and a crazy 1 year old basset hound.

  • Thank you for your post. I'm so glad that you and your kids seem to have things under control. I'm so sorry that I have'nt been on in a while I have had some personal things come up and I will be having surgery really soon. so after that I will be on more since I will be not allowed to do much for about six weeks. Hope to talk to you soon and get better acquainted.

  • My name is Vicky from West Babylon, NY.  My dd was recently diagnosed with ADHD and I am in the process of understanding and learning how to help my daughter while trying to make sure my other 2 sons receive the attention.

I am literally a newbie so I don't know what to ask, expect or how to go forward.

  • the first thing to do is to get her satrted on somw meds. Then you can pull it up on the web and see what it says. If you have any questions all you have to do is ask. We will be here and help as much as we can. My kids were diagnoised about five years ago, so we have gone through just about every med,for my youngest at least. My oldest son is on concerta and it does a great job.All you can do for now is to go with the flow and remember it is hard on them to

  • Hello my name is Paula and I have a 9 year old son Jeremy that has ADHD and has since he was 4 years old. WE have been on too many different medications to list for this and I see some difference with the one he is on now, it helps him to focus and he is doing well in school but it has made him very aggressive lately ad my son has never been aggressive. It is driving me crazy. I hate changeing his meds again though b/c it is working so well in his academics and everytime we change meds he gets sick and has to be put on Nexium for his stomach and this medicine he is on now we also had to put him on an appetite increaser med b/c he does not eat. I am at my wits end on what to do I hate medicating my child but if we don't he fails in school and stays in trouble at school. Can anyone please help? I am open to any suggestions please. Thanks Paula

Proud mommy to Breanna, Jeremy, and Kayla
