My son has ADHD and is going to visit his father for the summer......in Tennessee!!! Not only does it suck b/c I will miss him like crazy, but I'm worried about how well his father and step-mother are going to be about giving him his medication. I have been pounding it into my son's head (he's 5) to make sure he takes his medicine every day while he's at his dad's, but I can only do so much and I can't control if they give it to him or not. Last time he came back from a long visit with them he was ABSOULETLY HORRIBLE in the behavior department and I have a feeling that was the start of the ADHD symptoms and if that happens again after this visit I will know it's b/c they didn't give his medicine and then we will have a MAJOR problem!!!

Just needed to vent!! Thanks!!

I think that you should pound it into Dad's head about how important it is that your son takes his meds. It an awful big responsibility for a  5 yr old to remember to take his medication. My son is eight and he does a good job but he still forgets. I would talk to the dad and make sure that they put it in to their daily routine. And i would call to make sure.  Hope that helps.

ok honey this is what you do, you tell him that if he comes back and acts like he didn't have it that you will slap him with neglect charges. It is against the law to not give a child medication that they need. Don't play his games and let him know whos in charge. It damn sure isn't him. Or is it?
