My 3 year old has always been hard to deal with.  I have tried everything but the doctors say he is adhd.  I am scared of medications because I have heard so many bad stories about the side effects.  I don't want to drug my son up but I don't know if his behavior is healthy for him or me.  If anyone has any advice please help.

It can be hard to accept, but medication is really the best way to go. It's not something he can help, it's the same as someone suffering from say depression or anxiety, it's not their fault, it's a chemical imbalance in the brain that they can't control. It's the same for your son. It may take trying out a few different medications or dosages, but it will work!! Trust me, my son had become practically a different person and then when he was finally diagnosed and put on meds it was like having my old kid back again!!
And don't let anyone else talk you out of it, make you feel like a bad parent for using medications, say "it's normal", "he's just a little kid", or "he's a boy, what do you expect" or any thing else that might sound like these, because until they've experienced it for themselves they have no clue what it's like.
Hope this helps you some!!!

You don't have to try med's right away. My 8 yr old son was recently diagnosed with ADHD. We changed his diet, used rewards, and introduced
Omega 3 fish oil supplements. See my journal post My son Zach on my profile
date May 13th and also my post My Son Chapter 2.

 Hope this helps.

ADHD. It's just as hard for us as it is for them
