I'm new to the group and would like to take a moment to introduce myself.
My name is bineshi (it really is my name...one of them...and it is also the Clan that I belong to). It means "bird"...and more specifically, Thunderbird.
I'm anishinaabe (aka ojibwe, aka chippewa) and a member of the Bad River Band of Chippewa Indians, located in Odanah (ojibwemowin for "Village"), Wisconsin...on the southern shores of Lake Superior. I now live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan...still on the southern shores of our beautiful gichee gumee (pronounced gitch-ee-goo-mee)....aka Lake Superior.
I'm also very traditional and "practice" those traditions and teachings... I attend sweat lodge, ceremonies, and teachings; I also give teachings to our children and even some adults in our community who are just now learning of our traditions.
I would be happy to share with you some of what I've learned, although there is so much that I haven't learned yet. I should note that some things are told...and taught... during certain times of the year, but we'll cross that if and when we come to it... :)
Thanks for the invite 'Tasha... :)
