H0W T0 0PEN A CHiLD SUPP0RT CASE WHEN HE DiDN'T SiGN BiRTH CERTiFICATE?
Do I just go to DHR and tell them my situation and they will get me a court ordered paternity test? or what? I haven't even received my daughters birth certificate. What do I do to get this deadbeat to start helping support OUR child?
If you are on any kind of gov assistance like foodstamps or medical card they will automatically take both you and the babys father to court. first of course your case worker will ask who the dad is and his info. Its a lengthy process so be patient. If your not on any assistance then yes you go to the Child support offices and schedule an appointment. They will give both you and the dad a court date and the guy a chance to get tested. if he declines he still has to go to court and he will be forced to take a test or accept paternity. Best of luck to you!
Mommy of two boys and expecting a new June baby.
You're going to have to go through the courthouse in order to establish paternity and to receive child support. It may be a lenghty process, but just give it time. Once the results are in, you can add him on the birth certificate if you'd like. Don't you have a child support enforcement establishment where you can begin the process? Good luck!
