Tell us why you chose the name Ayla...

Why did you decide on that name?  For me it was Clan of the Cave Bear.  Back in 10th grade, we had to read it as an assignment for World History.  After the first chapter I was hooked.  I love the story and fell in love with Ayla, the character and name.
The name Ayla, to me, represents a strong, beautiful, intelligent woman...and every mom wants their daughters to be those things...and we believe they are!

I chose Mikeayla but Ayla for short because of the Earths Children Series! When I was in Scholars my senior year in high school we had to read a  chapter out of Clan of the Cave Bear and I was hooked as well! Ive read all the books and patiently awaiting the next in the series to find out if she gets to meet her son again!!! To me Ayla is a strong beautiful caring woman who stands up for her beliefs no matter what the consequence!

As far as I know, the 6th isn't out, yet.  We all know that Ms. Auel takes her time researching and developing the story, so it'll be a while!  Also, it took about 10 years or so to get the last one out...(even tho there were medical problems along the way.)
I'm looking forward to it coming out!  (can't wait) But as of yet, I haven't heard anything!

Hey All! I also chose the name Ayla for my daughter because I LOVE those books, as well as the fact that I always thought Ayla was strong, kind, caring, intelligent, beautiful, and independant, all the traits I hope for my daughter. Did you all know that in hebrew Ayla means Oak tree and In turkish is means Circle of light, or the Moon? I love those meanings.

As for the 6th book I have been waiting with baited breath ever since the 5th was released, there is no news yet but I am anxiously awaiting.

My baby is HOT stuff!

Yeah I'm a Harry Potter geek, got beef?

welcome welcome...I'm glad you found us.  And the hebrew meaning is TALL oak tree...(not contradicting you, just adding to it!)  I didn't know about the turkish meaning, though!

Wow, Hello, I am new to this group, I just found out from a member of this group, that there was a group for Ayla mommies and I think it is really neat. As for me, I too, named my daughter after Ayla in the book "Clan if the Cave Bear" When I was in middle school I read the series, after that I had dreamed of having a daughter named Ayla, because of the inspiration I got from the charector, the strength I seen she had and the passion in which she lived her life, gave me the insoration in those crucial times (PUBERTY) and so to me, it is very sentimental.

Hello to all of you. I had my daughters name picked out since I was in high school. Ayla actually tied with Scarlet but I liked Ayla better. I did not get to use it until our fifth child. It fits her perfectly. Here is a picture of my Ayla.

Isn't she beautiful?
