Just starting to check out the new groups and wanted to make a point of introducing myself. I'm Joan and live in Ohio. I am SAHM to two kids and three dogs. The rest I guess you can check out on my homepage.
I was happy to see a 30 something group because I think by this point in our lives we've gotten out the wild oats but still have some spunk left!! My husband turned 40 this past July and we are at the point where we need to make the decision to have another child or just work with what we've got and start to look forward to a chance of a life of our own again!!!
I look forward to chatting with you all!

Welcome to the group. Yes I agree we are at that midsection I guess you could say. Partying in the bars is no fun anymore, but we still have a little wild side left to us.
My husband will be 53 in August. So for us the children having days are done. We do have 3 of them a 10 year old daughter, a 23 year old daughter and a 26 year old son.
Again welcome to the group, I look forward to getting to know you.

Hope I'm not overstepping any boundaries by asking but doing the math: 30ish group leader with 26yr old child?? I'm guessing two of the three are stepchildren, yes?
I ask because I would love to hear your comments on how that relationship has changed and how you have been treated by outsiders as you get older. At first glance of you and your husband, the difference in age must be getting less obvious (please, no offense) and I wonder what that's like when you are all out together.

nope not over stepping any boundaries. Yes two of mine are stepchildren. You know most people just dont even give us a second look when we are all out. I always refer to my older stepchildren as my children just because that is the type of family we are. My daughter is also my husband's stepchild, but you could never tell it by how they get along and interact. Heck they even look similar. We are actually all very close. We get together and do things quite a bit as a family and it's always a lot of fun. I love all my children and they love me.
I don't take any offense at all my husband and me don't look all that far apart in age. He looks younger than he is and I look a little older so I guess that helps with the way people look at us, but am not sure.

thanks for the candid reply! I guess my frankness about asking is related to my feeling about being 30ish. I love not worrying as much about what people think and what they might be saying. I love this point of my life where I've got a pretty good idea who I am--by no means done growing or learning but comfortable laying it out on the line.
