Ingredients

  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 (8 pound) cured, bone-in picnic ham

Directions

  1. Spread about 1 1/2 cups of brown sugar on the bottom of the slow cooker crock. Place the ham flat side down into the slow cooker - you might have to trim it a little to make it fit. Use your hands to rub the remaining brown sugar onto the ham. Cover, and cook on Low for 8 hours.
could I used this even thou it says 8lb bone in?

Is this a fully cooked ham?

One of my favorite ingredients to add to ham is Root Beer Soda.  Just score the ham, add some cloves and a couple of cans or bottles of your favorite Root Beer.  It is super delish and super easy.  Enjoy

Good.  The recipe I posted above will work great.  The root beer gives it a fantastic flavor and if you do decide to try it, please let me know how you like it.  Thanks

You also use a can of coca-cola and just add that with the ham and let it simmer away for a couple hours.  mmmmmmmmmmmm - - - enjoy!  = ]

As usual, thanks puppieluv for the easiest recipes that I know will turn out great. I have come into possession on a 3# cooked ham from native american commidities and the root beer thing is going to be the way to go with this salt laden precooked, preformed meat hunk. the remainders after a nice ham dinner will be divided and shared with CP beans and an egg scramble over toast.....Julie
