Slow Cooker Hot Spiced Cider

4 cinnamon sticks, broken into pieces
2 nutmegs, broken
1 teaspoon of whole cloves
1 teaspoon of allspice (whole)
3 quarts of  cider

Wrap first 4 ingredients in cheesecloth and tie in a bundle. Simmer in Crock-pot with 3 quarts of cider with spices 6-8 hours.

Slow Cooker Hot Cocoa

1 1/2 c  Sugar
  1 1/4 c  Cocoa powder
  1 1/4 ts Salt
  3/4 c  Hot water
  1 ga Milk
  1 ts Vanilla extract
  1/4 ts Cinnamon

In large saucepan, combine sugar, cocoa and salt.  Add hot water slowly, mixing well. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils. Boil and stir 2 minutes. Add milk; heat to serving temperature, stirring occasionally. DO NOT boil. Remove from heat; add vanilla, and cinnamon; whip with a whisk. Serve hot, with whipped cream or marshmallows if desired.

This recipe can be doubled and kept in crockpot for easier serving to large groups.

Orange-Ginger Tea

2 quarts water
3-1 inch squares fresh gingerroot, sliced
3 Tbsp honey
1 orange, sliced

Place water and gingerroot in slow cooker, cover.  Cook on high 2 hours then on low 2 more hours.  Add honey and sliced orange 1 hour before serving.

Johnny Appleseed Tea

2 qts water, divided
6 tea bags--your favorite flavor
6 oz frozen apple juice, thawed
1/4 c plus 2 Tbsp firmly packed brown sugar

Bring 1 qt water to boil, add tea bags.  Remove from heat, cover and let steep 5 minutes.  Pour into slow cooker.  Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Cover, heat on low until hot.  Continue on low while serving from slow cooker.

Hot Cranberry Punch

32 oz bottle cranberry juice
2 sticks cinnamon
6 oz can frozen lemonade
12 oz can frozen orange juice

Mix together all ingredients in slow cooker.  Cook on high 3-4 hours.

Homestyle Tomato Juice

10-12 large tomatoes
1 tsp salt
1 tsp seasoned salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 Tbsp sugar

Wash and drain tomatoes, remove cores and ends.  Place in slow cooker.  Cover and cook on low 4-6 hours or until soft.  Press through sieve or food mill.  Stir in seasonings, chill.

Irish cream cocoa

3-1/2 cups nonfat dry milk powder

3/4 cup powdered sugar

3/4 cup cocoa

3/4 cup Irish cream flavored powdered nondairy creamer

8 cups water

Combine all ingredients except water in 3-4 quart crockpot. Stirring with a wire whisk, gradually add the water until mixture is smooth. Cover crockpot and cook on low for 3-4 hours. Stir mixture with wire whisk before serving. Top each serving with a dollop of whipped cream, if desired. 12 servings

Sweet Hot Buttered Rum

2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 pinch salt
3 sticks cinnamon
4 whole cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 cups rum
Whipped cream
Ground nutmeg

Put all ingredients, except the rum, whipped cream and nutmeg into slow cooker. Add 2 quarts hot water. Stir well. Cover; cook on LOW for 5 hours.

Stir in rum. Top individual servings with whipped cream and a dash of nutmeg.

Pineapple Punch

1 (46-oz.) can pineapple juice
3 C. orange juice
1/4 C. fresh lemon juice
2 cinnamon sticks

Pour pineapple juice into slow cooker, followed by orange juice and lemon juice. Add cinnamon sticks. Cook on Low for 2 hours. Remove cinnamon sticks. Serve warm. Garnish with orange or lemon twists or pineapple chunks.

Hot Spiced Cherry Cider
 
3 1/2 quarts apple cider
2 cinnamon sticks
2 3-oz packages of cherry-flavored gelatin

Mix together the apple cider and cinammon sticks in the stoneware. Heat on High for 3 hours. Stir in cherry-flavored gelatin. Keep on High 1 more hour and allow gelatin to disolve. Turn to Low to keep warm. Serve directly from the stoneware.
