As a search angel, I was hoping this could be a 'sticky note' here in this group.  I made this list up today after reading the posts here, and because tomorrow I am being interviewed by the local paper, and needed my thoughts together!   Hope it helps.

Anyone needing help with a search can contact me privately or through this group, and I will help as much as possible.

Essentials of Starting an Adoption/Reunion Search

By both parent and child placing their information with  the following 2 registries a match will be made and the parties will be notified.

International Soundex Reunion Registry

http://www.isrr.net/registration.shtml

Adoption.com Reunion Registry

 http://registry.adoption.com/

If born in IL, register at the following:

Illinois Adoption Reunion and Medical Information Exchange

http://www.idph.state.il.us/vitalrecords/adoptioninfo.htm

Also there is a website that tells where to write for non-identifying information - however,  the list is no longer maintained and some information may be outdated:

http://www.adopting.org/non_id.html

Anyone with medical issues needing history should contact the following website:

Search Angels can be found by searching the term ‘search angel' and your state of birth.  I am a member of  Soaring Angels which is a Yahoo group with many volunteer members who help with searching.  We can be found at:
