I was always shown a triangle where the adoptee was at the top because the adoptee is the point of the triad.  I've heard people insist that the triad only happens if there is openness or love. I've heard a lot of talk about an adoption constellation where the adoptee is in the middle and all kinds of people coming out of it.

I'm so bad at math!  And most most espcially bad at geometry! But I always saw the triad as a triangle with equal sides. This is the very first time that I am "hearing" , er seeing actually that many thought it was an unequal triangle?! and I also always thought the birthmom was on the top point connecting the aparents and adoptee together at the bottom. because if it was not for her, well, it would be some other geometric shape. Like a line segment or something. gesh, I am just awful with this math stuff!

I like the Venn Diagram so much better! It just makes more sense. each member their own circle, each one overlapping each other's circle and blending together in the center as one unit.

OTT, I didn't know what a Venn Diagram was so I googled it. It looks like (even though I can't find one labeled for adoption) that it allows for over-lapping relationships between (I'm naming the circles A, B, & C) AB, BC, AC, and ABC all together, as well as A, B, & C being separate and unique circles as well. I'll have to read the links though. HTH.
