Hello everyone. Just wanted to share my recent experience with a great doctor. Heather has recommended Dr. James Ross several times through various posts and I have to say that I second that recommendation!
I recently had a miscarriage and he has been so amazingly supportive through the whole thing. He called me personally to tell me that the baby had passed, as shown by the ultrasound. He was very sincere and apologetic. I went in to see him yesterday and he personally came to the waiting room to get me, weighed me himself, and spent lots of time answering my questions and explaining things to me in a way that made sense. He suspects that my low thyroid played a role in the miscarriage, which is terribly heart breaking, because I thought my thyroid was finally under control. After he answered all my questions he asked if he could pray for me, so he held my hand and prayed. I mean, seriously!!! I couldn't believe it!! Night and day experience from my previous OB who seemed to have NO time for me and rushed through our appointments and here Dr. Ross is taking time to pray with me. Just amazing. He made me feel very comfortable and not once did I feel rushed. We talked about VBAC and he looked at my records and said I am a "fantastic candidate" for a VBAC! Very, very uplifting to hear that.
So, if you are shopping for a great doctor, you might want to check in with Dr. Ross. He is not an OBGYN...he's a family practitioner, but that personally doesn't bother me. He will be moving his office from Southcrest to St. Francis South in June 2011. He said he will continue to deliver out of Southcrest as well as St. Francis South (not sure about the main hospital), Hillcrest, and eventually St. Johns. I have heard that he is very "natural birth friendly" which is a huge plus as well. So anyway, just wanted to share my experience with you!
Tarah, I am very sorry for your loss. You're in my prayers, let us know if you need anything.
I am so very sorry for your loss. ((((Hug))))
Glad to hear that you had a good experience with him and felt cared for.
