vbac - where I'm at

Hello!  I made an introductory post about my first baby (induced at 40 weeks, FTP, c/s) and my wish to try to labor with future pregnancies.  Well, I am now 16 weeks, due late January/early February.  I have been going to Contemporary Women's Specialists (four doctors - I know mothers who have used each one - all highly recommend) and switched to Dr. Razdan who has the insurance to perform vbacs and accepted me as a patient.  It was hard to give up my original doctor, but she didn't have the insurance and recommended Dr. Razdan.

I've met with the doctor twice, and I have to say she really seems to care about the option of vbac.  I gained 45 Ibs with my first pregnancy and my son came out 8 Ib 5 oz.  She really wants me to watch my weight gain with this pregnancy.  Both of my doctors thought my son's big head and size were a key reason for my failure to progress.  She will not induce me, and in the last few months says she will really "coach" on low/no carbs and a lot of walking.  Which sounds a little scary but if I keep the goal in mind, I can do it! ha

I had to sign a lot of paperwork talking about the risks of vbacs, which can be startling.  I am very motivated to try vbac though.  I'm excited for the thought of letting my body go into labor naturally and then trying to have a healthy delivery.  I'll keep ya'll posted!

YAY! Good luck on getting your VBAC. I'm due in September (the 15th to be exact) and am hoping for a vbac with Dr. Thompson.  I'll let y'all know how mine goes too. Dr. Thompson told me he has a streak going...22 successful vbacs in a row...so "don't break my streak." :) I told him I really didn't want to!  He is also located at St. Francis...and I thought he was the only doctor that did VBACs there. It's good to know there is someone else! :)
