Hello everyone! My husband and I just recently found out that we are unexpectedly expecting baby #3. I'm still in shock because we didn't plan it at all! My first child was a Clomid (fertility) baby and I had an amazingly perfect delivery (w/ epidural). My 2nd was delivered via emergency C-sec due to his heartrate dropping significantly right before I was about to push. Anyhow, we just moved here to Owasso, OK and it seems the docs in this town do NOT do them. I'm willing to make the drive to Tulsa for a great doc who will at least let me try to VBAC. I would really love any of your recommendations and positive stories of VBAC actually working! We are not from this area due to being a military family so any help is much appreciated! Thank you!

Thank you!! I called them earlier and the problem is they don't take my insurance:( We are on Tricare Prime Remote and it seems to be hard finding anyone that does them here and takes our insurance. I contacted OSU and the receptionist said Dr. Frye *might* do it but they weren't 100%. And I can't find anything online at all about him and any successful VBAC he has performed. I am hesitant to get a referral through my insurance for someone if they don't do it.
Southcrest is no longer doing VBAC. Thus, Dr Ross is no longer able to do VBAC.
If any docs in the St. John network take your insurance you might look into that. St. John has recently started allowing VBAC again. The way I understand it, you see an OB for your prenatal care but at delivery you may end up with a hospitalist/laborist doing the actual catching. Stephanie (Stephs9, ICAN of Tulsa co-leader) can explain how that's working much better than I can.
They are doing them at OSU as well, so we've heard. There was a young lady at the last ICAN meeting who is planning a VBAC with a doctor there. Again, Stephanie knows more about that.
Welcome to the area!!

Oh...here is the link for the ICAN of Tulsa group on Facebook. Meeting date/time/locations are posted there and it's a little more active than this group.

Do you know if by chance it was Dr. Frye at OSU? I spoke with a receptionist and she said that he "might" do it. (He happens to be on my insurance as well) First I have to get a referral and I have an appt. to confirm the pregnancy on Monday. So I'm hoping that the family medical doc knows about it but I'm not going to count on it lol. I want to have a doctor or two in mind if they ask me who I want to be my OB just in case. This whole thing is ridiculously frustrating:( Thanks for all your help!
St John is hopefully going to do VBACs soon, but they're still ironing out the details. What will probably happen is a VBAC mom will see a regular OB then transfer care to the hospital laborists/hospitalists (OBs who service the hospital only). Again, we don't know the details yet or when they will start accepting VBAC patients. You can always call Dr Donnelly's office to ask questions, she's the chief of OB at St John's.
Hey Stephanie:) I apologize for having to delete my facebook comment the other day. We had not told anyone about the pregnancy yet since I'm only about 6 weeks along and somebody saw me post about it on the ICAN of Tulsa page and messaged me asking me if I was lol. So I had to quickly delete before anyone else saw it at least until we made it official lol. Thank you for all your help! Today I have an appt. with a PCM to confirm the pregnancy and I'm going to ask for a referral for a doctor at OSU since they are on my insurance. Really wanted Dr. Thompson but Tricare doesn't cover him:/ I will keep you guys updated and hopefully this "Dr. Frye at OSU" will let me do it! My only worry is that they won't let me because my youngest is 17 months old today meaning we conceived when he was about 16 months......so I'm really not sure how much of a gap in children is considered ok in Oklahoma. This baby was a total surprise lol. We were talking about trying in a few years, but none the less we are still excited!
