Notable Asians Hall of Fame

Let's recognize some of our favorite Notable Asians here! They don't have to be Hollywood celebrities, either! They could be politicians, scientists, or people not as well-known that you feel deserve mention. Once you start thinking about it, you may find that there are more Asians "hiding in plain sight" than we realized!

Let's have some fun with this one!

Looking forward to seeing your contributions!

Lea Salonga - she played the original Kim from MISS SAIGON in London and New York. She won a Sir Lawrence Olivier (not sure of the spelling though!) award in London and a Tony's in New York for her performance on that musical.

You are blessed!

Lea Salonga also played Eponine from Les Miserables on Broadway.

You can read more about her accomplishments on her Wikipedia page.

Brenda Song is half Hmong, half Thai, I believe.  Her father is from the Xiong (they spelled it Song to be more Americanized, I guess) clan family.

and i have girls that adore Vanessa Hudgens and Brenda Song as well...
Quoting Mamasan2:

My daughter loves Vanessa Hudgens (1/2 filipino) from High School Musical and the asian girl who plays London on the Suite Life of Zack and Cody....

Guess you realized I have tweeners.....

jk

EDIT: My daughter just told me her name is Brenda Song (London from Suite Life)

Here are a few..they are part Dutch-Indonesian so I guess I'm a little biased here because I do pay more attention to them ;)
Mark Paul Gosselaar - Zack from Saved by the Bell
Michelle Branch - I think she's in the Wreckers now..I believe she's part Dutch-Indo as well.

What about Kelly Hu? Miss Teen Hawaii 1985 (only the 3rd year of doing the show) and also took home Miss Teen USA, same year.  She's of English, Chinese, Hawaiian decent.  Is now an actress. Did movies like Cradle 2 the Grave 2; The Doors; The Scorpion King; Underclassman.

And Jocelyn Enriquez? Started in an all girl group in high school called "Pinay Divas." My most memorable song from her -- "A Little Bit of Ecstasy," released back in 1997.  The year I graduated -- hence the fond memory.
