Hi! I was adopted when I was 2 weeks old. I was born in South Korea. I came to America when I was 3 months old. I just want to meet other Asian adoptees and see how their experiences were of being adopted into a family that is a different race then you. Also, have you wanted to experience the culture you came from? If you have, how?
Hi! I was also born in South Korea and came to Georgia when I was 3 months old. My experience was a wonderful one and am very lucky to have been adopted by such wonderful people that I call my family. My Dad and Mom (my Mom is now deceased) are caucasian as well as my sister and my 3 brothers are bi-racial.. half caucasian and half African American. I have been interested in learning more about th culture of where I come from. My Mom tried to take me to a bunch of Korean things in Atlanta when I was younger but later it just kind of trailed off. Before she passed, she was planning on taking me to Korea one day so I could see where I came from. My Dad is not as interested, but I want to take my kids out there one day.
My husband is Caucasian and I am African American. We have two sons (both 1/2 Caucasian & 1/2 AA). Our soon to be daughter is 100% Chinese. We try to teach the children about different cultures whenever the opportunity arises. When I was growing up, it drove me crazy that my parents were "always reminding me of my color". As I matured, I began to appreciate that they were trying to give me a cultural identity, appreciation, and guide who I would be. I hope to do as much for my babies.
