Conductive Education
Does anyone have any ideas on how to make CE more affordable? There is a mom on Cafemom that is actively fundraising so her son can attend a CE program. It's not covered by insurance and to access a program all year round, is very costly where she lives.
How do other parents pay for CE? Personally, we can only access CE for one month every 3 years or so. We have to travel at least 6 hours to get to a program and then have all the additional costs of living in that city while my daughter attends. The last time she attended a 19 day program, it cost over $8,000. Is there any way to make it more affordable, or is this just the price we must pay?
When you have a special needs child, it is like floating in the ocean. You will have highs when you ride the top of the wave and move forward and lows when the wave crashes over you and sucks you back. As you are riding a low wave of sadness, frustration & disappointment, just keep in mind the next wave will take you back up and move you forward once more.

by L.J.squared on Aug. 16, 2008 at 10:46 PMUnfortunately, I think it is a price we have to pay. Our program here in Grand Rapids costs $1700 a month. Of course this does not include the gas expense. Luckily for my son, we only live 30 minutes away, give or take. It certainly isn't cheap. As a matter of fact, I am fund raising right now in order to get Logan's CE paid for. Definitely not an easy task nor is it cheap, and very time consuming. Thus far, I have made brochures, buttons, a trifold, and created a blog. The blog offers a way to get updates on Logan as he journeys into CE. That way people who donate can see Logan's progress that was made possible by their donations. Please take a peek at your leisure: http://www.loganssuperheroes.blogspot.com/. Other than fundraising, I don't know how families could possibly afford it. I know the CLC here in Grand Rapids offers scholarships. I don't know all that it entitles. I'm sure it could help, but for how long? I wish I knew of ways to make it affordable. I really do.
