Hi, all! I'm optimistically joining this group. I'm hoping to get my son Finlan (2 years old, severe spastic quad CP) into a CE research study in Grand Rapids this fall. I have been in email contact with them, and I'm waiting on a phone call back... I'm not sure how we'll swing basically moving to GR for a month for the study and how we'll survive my taking a month off of work (I'm currently the only income earner in our household, DH is a small business owner of a not-yet-successful business...), but I am so anxious to access this opportunity! I'd love any advice, guidance, whatever for a newbie! Thanks!

Hi Carrie,

Welcome to the group!  Hopefully he will be accepted into the program - so let us know how you make out.

When you have a special needs child, it is like floating in the ocean. You will have highs when you ride the top of the wave and move forward and lows when the wave crashes over you and sucks you back. As you are riding a low wave of sadness, frustration & disappointment, just keep in mind the next wave will take you back up and move you forward once more.

Yay Carrie! Glad to see you here. When (not if, hehe) Finlan gets to paticipate in the study, you should look into staying at the Ronal McDonald House http://www.wmrmh.org/index.shtml. It'd probably be a heck of a lot cheaper than any hotel.

How cool would that be for Finlan and Logan to be classmates? In case you didn't know, there is a scholarship at the CLC. Maybe that is of interest if Finlan gets into CE study and benefits from it. Man, I'm so excited. I hope and pray it works out. Please do keep us posted!
