i am at a loss for what to do.  my son is almost 11 months old and he does not sleep worth a shit.  i have tried NCSS and i have a routine with him but nothing works.  heres a typical night.

he goes to bed between 9-915

awake around 10-1030 falls back asleep instantly with rocking

awake around 11-1130 cries, needs boob to go back to sleep

if i dont go to bed with ^ that awakening then he will be back awake at 12 and i usually bring him to bed then and nurse him to sleep then.

i dont keep a clock in the room but i know between 12 and 6 he is awake at least 3 more times and i nurse him to sleep

the 600 wake i switch sides and nurse him back to sleep on the other boob

7, 8, and 9 are all alternating boob nursing to sleeps until we get up at 10.

im tired enough with this routine but NOW he has started going to sleep like normal and when he wakes up he does NOT want to go back to sleep, he screams like he is dying and nothing i do can get him back to sleep!!!  so now he is staying up til about 1am and i seriously can not take this lack of sleep anymore!!  what can i do?!

Oh hunny, I wish I could help. My daughter is almost 11 months old and her schedule sounds almost exactly like your LO's.

I dont have any advice for you but I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. =)

Oh that sounds rough.   :(

Perhaps... is he eating any solids yet? Does he go to bed with a nice full tummy?

First question: how long has this been going on?  Is it something he just now started doing or has it always been rough?

The reason I ask is because at about this age, my son went through something similar.  It was horrible and I hated it.  There was really nothing I could do but just lay there with him because even if I tried soothing him or rocking him: you'd think I was killing him.  So, I would just lay there with him, topless, and let him figure it out on his own.  This stage lasted almost a month.  I work outside the home so you can just imagine how my days were!

So, yeah, how long has this been going on?

well the awakenings have been happening since about  months... before that he slept through the night.  the screaming like hes dying and waking up in the middle of the night has just started within the last week

OK, this totally sounds like what my son went through.  It was a bit easy for me, though, since we cosleep.  I didn't have to do much.

Let me see if I can find a non-cosleeping mommy to help!
