Before and Now Pictures

Let's get to know one another by posting pictures of our preemies when they were born and now. Let us know a little bit about your preemies as well as you.

This is Derek John. He was born June 27, 2008 at 1 lb. 8.4 oz. 13 in. because I had severe Pre-eclampsia with HELLP syndrome. He was 28 weeks gestation. He's now 13 months old (10 months adjusted).

This was the day he was born.

And this is him a few weeks ago at 1 y.o.

Luckily the only issues Derek had while in the NICU was 1 blood transfusion, anemia, billirubin lamp 2 days, and just plain was slow to grow because he had IUGR. After leaving the NICU he had follow up apts. for Stage 3 Retinopathy that corrected itself and didn't need surgery. He got Synagis shots for 6 months last winter and got through the winter without contracting it! He receives physical therapy through early intervention but is quickly catching up and probably won't qualify when he's re-evaluated in September. His only area of delay right now is gross motor.

Derek is my only child and I'm a 35 y.o. teacher of 7th graders. I'm married to my DH for 9 years but we've been "together" for 17.

Hi my name is Kim and I am the mother of four boys ages 7, 4, and 6 month old twins. My twins, Brandon and Cameron where born at 36 weeks and four days. Brandon was 5lbs 2ozes and Cameron was 5lbs 9 ozes. It all started a few days before they where born. I had gone to see my OB on a Thursday and everything was fine. But both of them where still feet first. He told me that if I don't go into labor before I was at least 39 weeks he wanted to scheule a C-Section. I was fine with that (okay i really wasn't because I was so tired and my back hurt so bad from carring the boys.). Well six days later my water broke. It scared the hell out of me because with my older two that never happened. So at first I was sure if my water broke or if I had wet myself. Well anyways I had a C-section and they came out fine.

Here they are after they came home from the hospital (a feww dyas old).
Brandon Avery at 6 days old.

Cameron Micheal at 6 days old.

This is Cameron at 6 months old. He is 14lbs 4ozes now.

This is Brandon Avery now and he is 11lbs 14ozes.
