My little one has so much trouble with her tummy. It is getting to the point where it is interfering with her sleeping and eating. I don't know if there are foods that I should cut out of my diet, or if there is something the doctor can do for her. At the NICU they said the grunting and straining is normal for preemies, but she is so uncomfortable... I was wondering if others dealt with this and if anyone found something that helped...
The grunting IS normal. But if you think something is wrong, ask her pediatrician!

Does it seem to be gas? Derek had a hard digesting my BM if I had had veggies and fruit/juices. I ended up eating a VERY bland diet just to make him more comfortable. I also had a "Happi Tummi" that is a herb-filled pouch that is placed on the tummy (and kept on with velcro) after it is slightly warmed in the microwave. This seemed to help him during those times while I tried to figure out what kinds of food wouldn't affect him. I did use Mylicon for the days that nothing else seemed to help, but I tried not to if I could help it. If it isnt that and you feel like she is uncomfortable, you might want to check with the dr.
I am not really sure about the grunting, my daughter is 7 months(corrected age 4months) and she makes lots of noises and all the time but when she was about 3months ( 2 weeks before delivery) she started waking in middle of night about 1 somthing and would scream til about 4 or 5am and dr said she had acid reflux after that she slept all night . But she was on formula
