Its great! Its super nice not to have to poke them with a needle so many times a day. I would ice the site where you have to slap on the iport. I reccommend bumm - it worked best for us.

It does take a while to figure out the best spots  - when they work they are really nice. If they get kinked or something its not so fun.

The company is great too.

Ditto. Just don't get too frustrated while your getting the hang of placement. Also ice wasn't enough for Denni so we used the numbing cream.

We LOVED them.  We are on the pump now, but I reordered some just in case.  I was just as happy with the Iport as I am with the pump.  The pump is more convenient for us, but not for Owen.  He has to wear it on his pants 24/7 and  there is tubing to deal with.  We have to help him everytime he goes to the bathroom.  And it is noticed there on his pants.   The iport itself was not an issue.  He could get his pants up and down over it, no tubing, no one saying what is that?  Now of course WE  had to load a syringe or dial up the insulin pen pull his pants down a little bit to actually give him the insulin but we usually did it in the car or in a private spot.  So in our case I think the pump is more helpful for us (parents) not necessarily for him.   He has never complained about having to wear it on his pants, but if he hated it, I would not hesitate to go back to the iport.  We go for a check up at the end of October, so we'll see what the a1c says.  We were 7.1 last time which will be pretty hard to beat.  Which was half of the time on the Iport, half time of the time on the pump.  So this measure will be all pump. We'll see how it goes.    We used the iport for 7 months.  If you need help or have more questions, don't hesitate to contact me.

I think they are VERY expensive.  We just got a shipment of 3 boxes which is 30 ports.  It was over 600 dollars.   You are supposed to change them every 3 days or so, but we stretched it a little bit sometimes.   We got our first bunch from the doctor's office.  They were samples.  Our insurance paid for them, but I would call the company and just ask for help.  At one point, we were having problems putting it on correctly and we wasted like five of them.  I called for help, and they sent me a whole box for free.  I don't know what this ccs is, but maybe the I port distrubutor (edgepark)  will call them for you.  They called my ins com for me and did all the approving stuff.  You need a perscription from the doctor.  I have the edgepark number at home, I will get it for you if you need it.

Sorry, I forgot-- yes you can inject a half unit at a time.

I like them a lot too, key thing being you just have to get to know how to get them in without kinking - you have to be a little aggressive when inserting.  We use the numbing cream too, so Aleigha doesn't even feel the insertion.  Call the customer service number at patton medical.  They are really good at helping get them paid for:)  Aleigha uses 2 at a time for diff insulins, works SO much better than having to feel all those needle pricks!

We asked our endo and she said about half of her patients had good luck and the rest did not like it or had problems especially with insertion.  They also could not get it to work.  Insurance was not covering it. She was not really for it at all. She is usually pretty receptive to new ideas. So we are going to watch and wait here for improvements before we try it. Good luck with it.

good luck

They have a website I believe it is Iport.com I have been in it awhile ago.
