The artificial sweetners have neve been explained to me. So if I use one of them in say kook-aid does it mean he can have it with no insulin or just less? Let's face it kool-aid is much cheaper than crystal lite that's why I'm asking

If the end result has no carbs, then he won't need insulin.  My kids aren't fond of kool aid, I get Walmart or Target's version of crystal light lemonade.

You have to look at the carb info.  Many things say they use splenda or whatever but still have carbs from other ingredients.  Stuff like sugar free candy or cookies make no sense to me.  My son would still need insulin for them so why shouldn't he have the real stuff, kwim?
