Magnesium?

I recently had someone ask me if I had tried magnesium or cinnamon to help control my daughters blood-sugars?  I have heard of the cinnimon for type 2. Never heard of the magnesium!  But it made me wonder if anyone gives their D kids any of these vitamins or minerals - and is there any weight to any of these for a type one?  I usually chalk it up someone not knowing the difference between type one and type two!  Does anyone know anything about these?

cinnamon for sure, but only for type 2.  I've never heard of magnesium either.  But somehow I think that if there were any weight to using those non-medical remedies, we'd know about it!  or  at least our doctors would have told us about them!

The doctors do not want you to know about these things--so no they won't tell you---then you want come to them so they can take your money.

Magnesium is a sedative. If too much magnesium is in the body (hypermagnesemia) it can result in some very severe consequences. It can have significant affects on the cardiac, respiratory, and neuro systems. It not something that I would personally toy with.

I agree - these things shouldn't be messed with they can be dangerous!   I had someone else say cinnamon to me again this week and claimed it worked for type one - i told her cinnamon won't  bring back her beta cells to make insulin again!   But the reply was - he claims you wont need insulin anymore - exactly for a type two that uses insulin!!! urg!!!  why is it so hard to understand -- I really wish they would rename type 1 diabetes!! (nothing against type 2 - I would never assume to understand them to be just like type 1).
