Elizabeth (Aaris 21 months)
oh well the important thing is I got em right?
My husband thinks I'm nutts I take our emgency kit everywhere, but I could be more paranoid, at least I leave the suitcase at home, I have a packed suitcase for hospital visits, luckily we've only had to use it once and that was when Eric started Insulin, but better safe than sorry!

I wont even leave the bags in the car when we rent movies he avoids me saying why do they have to bring those in?
He doesn't quite get that the kids should carry their meters with them everywhere, out of nothing more than pure habit even if they dont use them, because honestly, whens something bad gonna happen, when you least expect it, right?
I just tell Dh that you wouldn't expect someone with ashthma to leave their inhaler in the car, so why would the boys leave the meters in the car?
He's still learning I love the man dearly, but he hasn't heard or been through nearly as much with these boys as I have.

When Aaris was first diagnosed I took everything everywhere... I could just be going to the post office to mail a letter and I would take a whole package of syringes... insulin... two sandwiches... cheese sticks... cake gel.... glucagon (which goes everywhere anyway) meter, blah blah blah... literally everything... the emergency bag is in the coat closet next to the door and like I said if we are going somewhere that is an hour or more away I take it... I also take it if we are going to be gone all day (ie the lake, or forth of july... we will be at a friends house all day so I will take the ermergancy bag with us.) fortunately my hubby doesn't think I am crazy... as a matter of fact he helped me put the bag together... :-)
Thanks for bumping this up, I never really thought of an emergency kit for Joey. I mean I have a kit that I carry everwhere with me that has extra lancents and strips and both his pens and extra pen neddles and his meter, and stuff for when he runs low. I going to to print these lists out and tell my dh that we need to make a trip to the store to pick these things up.
Thank you again for the help.

i need to take this with me to the store, too!! i have an everyday bag that goes EVERYWHERE with us, but i don't have an emergency bag or suitcase ready for a real emergency--fire, flood, etc.
my everyday bag....for trips to the grocery, pharmacy, mcdonalds : ), pool, errand running, etc....and if we go overnight, all the food/drinks go in the cooler and i triple up on everything else!! this weekend we'll go to my sisters for the weekend and i'll pack all of this into 2 giant bags....i am such a dweeb!! but a safe dweeb!!
snacks, sf jello, juice box (for lows), kool aid jammer 10, a sippy cup of water, meter, lancets, finger poker, strips..i always leave the house with a full bottle, needles, alcohol swabs, sanitizing wipes, tissues, insulin, batteries for the pump, iv prep wipes, baby wipes & diapers, insertion tubing/sets, calorie king (should be god), log book, calculator, highlighters, pencils, and my wallet : )
i have a ginormous bag that i put everything into...actually, it's really a piece of LUGGUAGE!! haha!!

That is soo true... my kiddo is almost 2 and when he was younger I figured I would be done with the whole diaper bag thing by now lol well now its a supply bag... We use the JDRF blue backpack for our everyday stuff and we have a few Animas tote bags that we use for the emergency stuff... What kind of bags do you ladies use?
Quoting jgibbs13:
It's funny because when Blake was a baby I would always say I can't wait until I don't have to carry a diaper bag everywhere I go, Now he's 3 and I have to carry a supply bag.
