where did you have your baby?  who was your OB/midwife?

if you birthed at one of the hospitals, tell me about what it's like there please :)  did the want you to stay hooked up to monitors the whole time?  did they want you to have an IV?  did they pressure you to get pain meds or episiotomy or anything like that?  do they take the baby away, or do they encourage rooming in?

just trying to plan for the future because we are going to try to get pregnant soon and i want to know about the birth options here in BG.  or in nashville or owensboro.

thanks!!!!!

AT Greenview Hospital we no longer deliver babies,  that is only at the Medical Center now.  I did however deliver my son at Medical Center.  My labor was pretty fast so I was in the bed with IV,   The labor and delivery room are the same, then after delivery they take you to the postpartum floor.  When I was there, they discouraged rooming in, It seemed like a battle to keep him with me, even when Daddy was in the room I was not allowed to take a nap or they would take him away.  That was almost 8 years ago, not sure how it is now.

In Owensboro (OMHS) they keep the baby in your room for a little while but then they go to the nursery for clean up /check up. You can bring them back as often as you like if the baby is healthy.

I had Konnor at the medical center last October.  I ended up with a C-Section so I was happy to have them take him back to the nursery whenever he wasn't eating...  (plus he's my third, so I was looking forward to sleep).  They were great though about bringing him to me whenever he wanted to eat and then would leave him until I called for them to come get him.  The room we were in was private, and he could stay whenever I wanted him.  (Including when visitors came)....  A lot has changed since my first two... (we were in Illinois for the last two so that could affect it also.) Here they didn't want moms to leave until 48 hours were up, but even with that they were flexible.  He was born at 7 Friday and we went home about noon on Sunday.  We had Dr. Karen Lyons, but there are lots of good doctors around.  I think most are fairly overbooked, but  i haven't heard any bad stories so far....

I had my little girl at the Medical Center in Bowling green. She is now 4yrs old.My dr that i had is no longer in bowling green.I had a private room and a pretty big one by becoming a member of the stork club/womens club its a one time fee of 50 bucks or was at that time.I had a c-section and was put to sleep for it.so i had iv,cathader (spelling) I could have my little one in the room as much as i wanted and called when done visiting/bonding for a while.they nurses were nice to me and everything went fine. And as another person stated medical center is the only hospital in bg that delivers,Greenview doesn't anymore.

i just gave birth oct. 12th 09 at the Medical center here in bg.  They no longer have the stork club they did away with that just this past march... bummer. but i was going to the fairview annex which is right next to the medical center/ lizzy andrews was my main dr. i guess? they have 5 there you see.  dr. nemec was who deliverd him and dr. trevor are really good guys i was hesitant about a guy being my dr. but dr. trevor really enjoys his work it seems and dr. nemec is hallarious.  the staff at the medical center was really great.  i was 2 days overdue/ and at 5 cm for the whole week so my water had broke so i had to go straight to the iv dr. nemec had them monitor my contractions for a hr or so but they had to have me start pitocin cause they wanted to speed things up since my water broke.  they give you the option of you giving your baby body heat or if you want them sent to the nursey to be put on the light. i chose him to be on my chest for the 1st hr so i could have my time with him.  they keep them in a nursery but you call and keep them as long as you want. they just ask you send them back when you and your so is sleeping for security reasons.  but i keept deacon with me majority of the day.  im a fairly small girl and dr. nemec streatched my wall during delivery so it didnt cause me to tear.  with my first son i deliverd in madisonville and they just yanked his arm out which caused a rare tear.. i wasnt too happy about that. but my experience at the medical center was good. if we plan on ever trying for #3 i plan on going back.

I had my baby girl at Owensboro Mercy Health Systems in Owensboro.  My doctor was Dr. Dawson and she is fabulous.  I did stay hooked up to monitors because the babies heartbeat was a concern.  I was very pleased with my experience.
