try aquaphor it is by the people who make eucerine. it is an ointment. head to toe body massages are the way to go. my 5 year old had it and my 6 1/2 month old has an active case. Nicky was diagnosed before she was a year old. Riley was diagnosed by 1 month. I also use triamcinolone ointment on Riley (0.025%) I used it on Nicky too. Once when I took Nicky in to the ER for 1 of her outbreaks, The attending doctor told me she also had eczema. She is the one who recommended aquaphor to me (she swears by it as do I now)She also said if I was to use a moisturizer, dont use lotion. she said the reason it is absorbed so fast, is because it contains alcohol which irritates eczema as well as burns. She said stick to creams and ointments. By the way she works at Childrens Hospital in Los Angeles, so she has experience and knows her stuff.(i think)  Lovely4279

Tammy, that didn't help many from our dermatologist office, and unfortunately we didn't have much else to offer them.  Eucerin was the #1 prescribed....

Renew's study with the tea tree oil beat Eucerine 7 to 1 in the double blind study in Manatoba Clinic...  and if it doesn't help, they get their money back....

I don't get into my 40 something groups ( LOL!!) )regularly, so if anyone has questions, private messsage me....

my 9 month old daughter has eczema. she was diagnosed when she was only 3 months old. i've been using aquaphor on her since then. she was prescribed triamcinolone also but i only use that when it is absolutely necessary.  she's still constantly scratching herself in almost every part of her body. i sometimes have to put mittens on her becuase i dont want her to scratch. do you have this problem also? how do you deal with the constant scratching? ( hmm, i should post that question and see what other mommies do)

anyways. thanks for posting this info.

Okay, this is a new group for me.  Our 4 year old has had eczema since birth.  A dermatologist we recently had an initial consultation with recommended Aquafor as well.  He even went so far as to state is is the most natural, and there's "nothing in it, it's like water."  So, I bought some, trusting his advice.  After reading the ingredient label, I immediately tossed it in the trash.  The first ingredient is a petroleum (toxic) product.

Can anyone recommend a natural or home remedy to relieve the redness or itching.  I'm also interested in a good soap that is natural.  Our child has it so badly under her eyes & it's very red.  She has it all over, though.  Please message me with any natural tips, thank you!!

My girls have eczema and we lather on the Eucerin followed by a lathering of Aquafor and then jammies and bed. It is usually gone within 2 nights of this ritual for us!

My 6 yr old has had eczema since birth. We have tried EVERYTHING!!! all with fail! She wears socks on her hands every night and of the day at times to keep from itching . She digs until it bleeds and is always uncomfortable and itching. The Dr. said there is nothing more to do than to use the dangerous creams, ointments and things. It is one of my biggest stresses and worries. She also has food allergies and milk seems to make it worse. I do all I can .. but nothing works :( I am so tired of this bothering my sweet baby. They also told me that if it continues into the next year, she may never outgrow it :(

My son was diagnosed w/eczema at 3 mos.  We reluctantly tried a prescibed steriod cream, but it made me nervous b/c we had to slather it all over his body.  We've since stopped that  cream and tried "natural" (?) eczema cream by Disney (not  my ideal option, but was willing to try anything).  The eczema has been reduced to his back and occasional flare-ups on his arms.  At its worst, he had eczema on his scalp.  He would scratch until it bled. The eczema is no longer on his scalp but the scratching became a behavior.  We have to put socks on his hands and cotton knit caps to prevent him from hurting himself.  To say the least, he is not sleeping thru the night.  Everyone has mentioned aquaphor to me, but I'm not crazy about petroleum products.  Has anyone tried the Aveeno Eczema cream? anything with tea tree oil in it?  I would love to get his skin back to being babysoft.

That is what I use BUT I also mix it with a good size tube of Hydracortazone cream. I think it works wonders on my son. Though I just found out that the reason my DS has eczema is because he is allergic to our cat. So we are in the process of finding a home for our awesome kitty. It will be hard since we have had him since he was 5 wks old. But my DS comes first and we will always do what's best for HIM!
