BAD BAD BAD

  • Kid Cuisine All Star Chicken Breast Nuggets: Nearly 200 mg more sodium than the recommended maximum for a full meal. I have never purchased a Kid Cuisine for our kids, but I shudder to think of how many Swanson meals I downed when I was younger. I did it for the square of cherry cobbler.
  • Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Crackers: 250 mg sodium per serving, try graham crackers instead.
  • Kudos Chocolate Chip Granola Bars: Sugar, sugar, sugar! Cascadian Farms Chocolate Chip Granola Bars have less.
  • Betty Crocker Fruit By The Foot: Shame on you, Betty Crocker. One roll-up contains 48 percent of its weight in sugar. You're handing them candy.
  • Campbell Soup Cars Souper Shapes Condensed Soup: 580 mg sodium -- yikes -- try Earth's Best Organic Elmo Vegetable Soup.
  • Scooby Doo Kraft Macaroni & Cheese: Whoops, sometimes we eat this with veggies. Too much sodium again. Try a side of brown rice.
  • Oscar Mayer Lunchables Mini-Tacos: 790 mg of sodium. Make them a regular 'ole sandwich.
  • Sunny Delight: 27 g sugar per serving -- a 12 oz can of Sprite has 33 grams. Pour a glass of milk or ice-cold water with a dash of citrus juice instead.
  • Earth's Best Organic Mini-Waffles: Organic isn't always better for you -- 37 percent calories from fat per four-waffle serving.

chicken nuggets.. i make my own.  no preservatives.  goldfish i have NO problem with.  granola either. everyone in my house loves them.  fruit by the foot? nope.  fresh or dried fruit. condensed soup? again, i make my own.  i'm not lazy. it takes all of 30 minutes to make enough for several meals and freeze it.  and tastes way better too.   nothing wrong with mac and cheese on occasion.  but shame on mom's who give it to their kids all the time.  not for health reasons but for eating habits.  lunchables?  again. not lazy. and its cheaper to make them sandwiches and give them fruit than it is to buy lunchables for a week.  sunny d?  again, i'm ok with that.  its got a ton of vitamin C which milk doesn't give them. once in a while does not hurt them.  like mac and cheese, if its the only thing they're given, shame shame.  organic waffles? wtf?  the only thing that is really organic is the stuff that comes from your own garden.  the rest is just overpriced normal stuff.  don't be fooled.

there isn't anything on this list that is harmful in moderation.  certainly there are better options, but being a food nazi isn't the answer.
