I make the most simple recipe of all and my family gobbles it up. The plus side is how cheap it is...
2 1/2 jars of meat spaghetti sauce (aldi)
1 1/2 bag of Penne noodles (family of 5 with left overs)
1/2 c sugar
1/2 jar of grated parmesan cheese (generic)
1 1/2 bags of cheap mozzeralla cheese (you wont be able to tell a difference.)
Boil your penne noodles like it says on the package.
When done boiling drain noodles. DO NOT RINSE! Add all the ingredients into the pan except the mozzarella cheese. Stir all
Put it in a 9x13 pan cover with mozzarella cheese and bake at 375 until cheese is melted usually about 10 mins.
I serve with a salad and breadsticks or a french loaf bread. It is easy and super yummy

That's what I was thinking! lol. I saw the sugar and did a double take. I can't imagine why this dish would need it at all!
Quoting Carrie131:
why on EARTH would you add sugar?!?!?!?!?!??!
Follow me to learn about Cloth Diapering and why I choose to give my son choice.

Perhaps you are unaware, but most pasta sauces
already have sugar/corn-syrup in them. Anyway, I figure, CUT DOWN on sugars because kids get too much- You dont' need to add it to their HEALTHY mealtimes :)
Besides, it will taste JUST as fantastic without!
We add the sugar b/c it taste better we like a little more sweetness to our pasta. Even pizza hut adds sugar to their sauce. Its good! We live a little on the wild side lol~ My mom used sugar in our pasta when we were younger and it has just stuck. It does taste good without but we like it better with :)

if you like it with sugar by all means use sugar. don't listen to everyone else. you're not raising them. i personally like bold and herby rather than sweet, but on the occasion that my sauce gets too tart, i'll add sugar in a heartbeat to even it out. some people concentrate WAY too much on content. if it doesn't taste good, no one is gonna eat it.
Thanks Tag ur it and sometimes i will use brown sugar and not near as much. :)
