What i did with all 3 of my daughters, they all were around 2, but i knew they were ready. I stopped putting pull ups on them, and only put undies on them. and they didnt like to be wet, so after a few times of them wetting themselves, they didnt like the feeling, and just started going on the potty.

I gave my daughter 2 yogurt covered raisins every time she sat on the potty.  I started giving them any time she sat on it at first, then when she got more comfortable with it I began to only give them to her when she actually went.  I also got her pretty big girl panties with characters she liked and she got excited to wear them.  I'm still working on getting her out of diapers at night.  I'll let you know how that one comes along.
