I'm afraid we don't have enough canned meat in our rotation. We have one case of tuna, and I'm off to buy a case of canned chicken (from Costco) this weekend. And that's sadly it...
DH hates tuna fish, so I'm the only one who eats it. (Well, he doesn't hate tuna fish, he just hates that I always mix in mayonnaise to make tuna salad, and he finds mayo completely unpalatable). We add the chicken to our soups once in awhile, but we don't go through a lot of it. Still I know this is nowhere near enough meat to have on hand. (We do have a ton of beans that we eat on a daily basis, but other than beans our protein choices are pretty slim).
What canned meats do you have in your 3-month rotation? I need ideas on how to include them in meals, too, as we've so rarely used canned meat.
Thanks!
Tuna, Chicken (store bought and home canned), Turkey, Ground beef (home canned), clams, freeze dried chicken, tvp.
Oh i just remembers i have beef chunks in cans too
I love the canned beef and have lots of it. Hormel is a little pricey but Smith's/Kroger brand is just as good and much cheaper. I find canned chicken a little dry but it's ok. I also have some canned salmon. I'm going to can my own chicken soon. My friend tells me it's really easy to do, as long as you use a pressure canner which I haven't purchased yet. Saving my money for one as they're not cheap.
I dont have hardly anything.maybe 10-15 cans of tuns. What about vienna sausages?DD loves them especially bbq or smoked.
GOD first ppl next things last you cant go wrong and w/ GOD and JESUS around you,you will be a a triple strand rope
I'm not sure what a good price for Spam is. I never buy it.
I have canned salmon too, I forgot about that one.
