how long do freezer meals last?

Does anyone have an official source telling how long freezer meals (home made) should last in the freezer? I know it depends on packaging but does anyone know? Specifically I'd like to know how long a meal in a gallon freezer bag should last in the freezer, and also a disposable metal tin casserole dish.

I know any sight i see that is official has a lot shrter life then i follow :) i have used some after a year before

 On the freezer books and sites I read there's different dates for each meal.  It's usually around 2 months.  I don't pay any attention.  I try to use it sooner and rotate well, but yeah I've gone a year before.
