DD is into taking baths in the big tub now, sitting up, splashing, the whole things. Should I stay away from bath toys? Or are some"safe" or are the all safe? I do wipe the tub, cup for rinsing, and the one toy I have off with an antibacterial wipe. But the one toy is one of those squirt toys, so obviously not all the water is getting out and thus becoming stagnent. And I can't very well bleach it because then bleach will set inside.
Update: I talked to our dr about the bath toys. She says that we should not have the squirt bath toys, they get water in them and it's impossible to get it all out. There are other toys, bath and not that make good bath toys depending on age. For babies something simple like links are ok because they are solid plastic, no way they will hold water in them.

Hello,
It's been so long since my son was Dx at age 3 1/2. But it seems that we had to get rid of the bath tub toys at the time. We rarely used any toys after that.....He had boats and I took all the tops off of them so they couldn't hold water in between bathes, I made them all row boats and canoes. If they hold water then they hold pseudomonas. If you feel she needs the toys, it makes bath time a lot more fun for everyone, lol Then try to find things that will dry completely between baths. Stacking cups maybe? A quick rinse with bleach and water should do the job. There are those soap crayons you could get her to play with. I know my son loved those and around christmas they have them everywhere for stocking stuffers. I know I hate to take away any good stuff from my CFer but better safe then sorry.
For every minute of his youth stolen by illness, I work hard to add more minutes by being careful of what he is exposed to and how his treatments are done. Does that make sense?
God Bless,
OH MY GOD... i have not even thought about bath toys. my kids love to have their bath toys. i gapsed when i read this and was like, holymoly, i ran and took the toys out. my kids bathroom is rubber ducks and frogs so they have those lying around and other toys too. some of them are completely closed and dont hold water at all. so those can stay. why did i not think about something that makes so much sense. thanks so much for mentioning this.
Lol! I have to laugh at the crazy things us CF moms have to think of with our babies.
I don't take any extra precaution with bath toys..I clean them just like I would with any kid and that's about it! I just make sure he doesn't put them in his mouth..which he shouldn't any way.
