First, I'm so happy that someone on another board directed me here! I posted this question on a "Healthy Moms" board and felt a bit bashed for even considering formula. I feel like you all will better understand and be able to help.
DS is 5 months old and I have been EPing since day 4. When he was drinking an ounce an hour I was fine with my supply. Now he is more like an ounce and a half an hour and I am running a few ounces short every day. I started giving him Similac then read the label and it has safflower and soy oil in it which I'd rather not give to my baby. I swiched him to Earth's Best Organic to try to avoid those ingredients (I was in a hurry and of course didn't read the label. I blame sleep deprivation) only to find out that it had ORGANIC safflower and ORGANIC soy oil. UGH!
I'm not sure if anyone here has ever noticed (or cared) about the inclusion of these ingredients or not, but has anyone found a formula without these ingredients?

If you are concerned with the oils, you can look into making your own formulas, Dr sears has a few recipes for goats milk formula if you do a search, I actually made one of his recipes and it was pretty disgusting :(

They use a chemical called hexane a neurotoxin, to extract DHA used in formula. The oils I am fine with, it's a source of fat, Babys Only" formula uses non GMO all organic ingredients without the DHA. It's a formula I'm very comfortable with.

I read today that the number one ingredient in similac sensitive is corn syrup aka sugar! I couldn't believe it!

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I will definitely check out the suggestions. I have no problem with the coconut oil. It's the vegetable oils that I'd rather avoid.

This is about hydroginated vegetable oil but regular vegetable oils aren't much better. If you think about it, have you ever found soy beans to be oily? Or corn? They aren't. What do people have to do to get oil out of something that isn't even oily? A LOT of processing. Yuck!
Side note, they are in everything because they are very cheap to make, not because they are healthy.
Still not too convinced. Anything organic has oils in it, its just a fact of nature. And you exract the oils by pressing. It just takes a lot of corn to press the germ (or the inner part of the corn). Just by pressing it yourself on a fresh peice of corn, you will see the oil. In the grand scheme of things, this isn't a ton of "processing" as seen by other types of foods. These are essential to our diets, as they are a great source of fat, which babies need.
Now, they hydrogination of oils is pretty yucky itself. I try to stay away from those as much as possible.
