Do you ever feel judged for exclusively pumping?

I feel like some people judge me for my decision to exclusively pump. My son just never had a good latch and it hurt so bad when he would nurse, so I decided to pump only so that he would still get the breastmilk and we would save lots of money on not having to buy formula. Some people just tell me that I am doing too much work and that formula would be more conveinent but to me I don't mind pumping, if I minded then I wouldn't do it! Do any of you ever feel this way or is it just me?

I've heard it all, and honestly, I am too proud of myself to care. I get many comments, like "I would never do that", or "ewww you are still doing that". It just makes me laugh. Switching to formula would be trading one set of problems for another.
I just tell everyone that my daughter cannot tolerate any other milk but mine and I am going to do whatever it takes to give it to her.

At first I felt bad. My sister mil laughed at me and called me a cow making moo noises when I told her. After that when people asked if the baby was breastfed or bottle fed. I just replied, she gets breastmilk.

1 mom liked this

My friends and family were very supportive. I did leave the breastfeeding group on cm because they don't seem to be very supportive.

I don't really feel judged, but my situation is a little different.  Alex was born with a cleft lip and palate and was unable to nurse because of the cleft in his palate (he couldn't get a suction).  Most people are pleasantly surprised when I tell them I do pump; they figured I would have just chosen formula.

the only people that have judged me are the ones on the breastfeeding forum here on CM
I was actually told that they don't consider my child "breast fed" just because he doesn't always get his milk from the boob...they constantly talk about how breast is best...which is what I'm trying to do, but then I get talked down to for going above and beyond to give my son breast milk.

Ugh that makes me sick that they make such ignorant comments. One person, a mod in that group wrote that the order of what's best for baby is: baby directly breastfed from mom, then baby directly breastfed from ANOTHER woman, then finally, moms pumped milk in a bottle. So another mom breastfeeding my child is better, so stupid! They just know it all.

is it wrong that I find it kind of gross having someone else bf my child??
I mean if its your only option and you're okay with it, I guess its better than formula...but I don't think I could do it....let someone else stick their boob in my sons mouth

I got more praise than negative comments! A lot of people say they would\could never do it! At first people thought I was crazy but when I mad eit to 18month they were proud of me!

I wouldn't say judged, but I definitely get comments like "Wow, you'd actually do that..good for you" or "That's good that you could stand doing that".  I know a lot of mothers who pumped exclusively so in that respect, I get a lot of support from them.  But usually if people have the nerve to ask I simply say he gets breastmilk.
