Engorged and not responding to a pump

With my daughter, I was able to pump 30+ oz a day and I was looking forward to that this time around. I am 4 days postpartum and fully engorged and not even getting more than a couple drops. Literally just a few drops. :( I don't know what to do. I'm putting my son to the breast frequently also. What can I do?

I wouldn't worry about pumping at all until closer to 4-6 weeks pp. keep putting baby to breast. You'll create a massive over supply. If you're engorged and really uncomfortable I would hand express for some relief.

Are you sure you dont have any blocked ducts or signs of mastitis or anything like that? When my ducts would clog I would not express much from that one until it unclogged itself..Maybe try using a heating pad before pumping for 10-15 mins and see if that helps at all. Also, since its a few days PP you can try to massage all the hard lumps in the breasts before pumping because all of that good fat in the milk could be clogging the line from the duct to the nipple.
