My doctor told me that I need to consume 500 extra calories per day to make up for the work my body does to make breast milk. To put that in perspective, here are some other activities that burn 500 calories per day:

-running 30 minutes at 8 mph
-jogging 60 minutes at 5 mph
-swimming for 60 minutes
-mowing the lawn with a push mower for two hours
-hiking for two hours
-rock climbing for 60 minutes
-playing a singles tennis match for 60 minutes
-cycling for 75 minutes
-spinning class for 45 minutes
-stair climber for 50 minutes
-jump rope for 50 minutes
-clean house for two hours
-50 minutes of cross-country skiing
-65 minutes of downhill skiing

I've actually found research that suggests for every ounce we make, we burn 20 calories!

So... if you produce 40 ounces per day.... you're burning 800 calories just sitting on your tookus!

LOVE IT
