Every kid loves getting new school supplies, we know we did.

Even if the ones from last year are still ok, there's nothing like getting some new ones.

In the thread below share your tips for buying new school supplies without breaking the bank.

10 moms who reply to this thread will win a $10 Barnes & Noble gift card.

  • Like one of the other moms mentioned, I only had to buy a tissue box this year.  My son just started preschool.  Other moms had some good tips though about waiting until after school starts to do supply shopping.... I'll keep that in mind!!  :  )

  • Get them while they're cheap to last the whole year and then some!  You can't beat crayons and glue for 20 cents!  We use a lot of index cards to make our own flashcards throughout the year too.

  • Buy items all year long when they go on sale.  You can get some really good deals in the off season for school supplies and they never go out of style!!!

  • First, Target will be clearancing their school supplies very shortly (they will go to 75% off super fast!) if you didn't buy everything that you need, buy it then!  Start buying the clearance stuff at all of the stores for next year.

Take your sales ads for Office Max and all of those places to WalMart (will help to save on gas!).  In case some of you don't know, WalMart matches prices.

Use coupons on everything else you are buying esp. the ones that will give you overage *hint* Kmart is a lot easier going about coupon overage than other stores.
