Don't- turn on the TV in the morning
Do-attend open houses and meet your child's teacher
do-tell your kids that you're proud of them
Do get to bed on time, don't stay up too late.
Do homework before playing outside
Don't spend too much on fancy supplies that are gonna get lost

DO make sure that your child gets enough sleep every night to make sure they dont wander during class...
DONT forget to have them eat breakfast before they leave

Do - lay out clothes the night before to avoid a.m. drama.
Don't - put a lot of sugar in the lunch box, the healthier the better.

Do - homework after school while things are still fresh in your mind
Do not - chew gum you know you will be in trouble( Mine has already) lol
Do - pick out clothes and Iron them if needed night before
Do not - wait till bus is coming to tell me you need something
Lay your clothes out the night before.
make sure all school books and papers are your bookbag the night before.
make sure you know where your shoes are lol( we have a hard time with this one lol)
Moms do make sure you sign all paper work and send back in lol

Do be friendly to the other children.
Do your homework on time.
Don't talk in class.
Don't be late!!
DO have a morning routine, that way the child(ren) know what is to be done next and in a few weeks they can do it with out much supervision....(makes moms morning so much easier)
DO have a huge (desk size) calendar on the wall I highlight all important dates with a yellow highlighter before I write in the Doc's appt, school play, parent teacher conference etc etc...its not official in our house until it is on that calendar.........
DO label your kids backpack and lunch box ON THE INSIDE........keep them safe, don't give a child predator any help hurting a child by letting them know your child's name right off the bat.....
DO rehearse safety rules with your kids, stranger danger (this includes other peoples pets and wild animals) make sure they know your first and last name their address and phone #. (If you do not know the person or animals name then they are a stranger)
DON"T cry and carry on in front of your child......they will either feel guilty about school or think school is a sad/bad place....OR both...........if you must cry go someplace they cannot see or hear you........

Another one for the list -
Don't let your child sign up for EVERYTHING that is offered. There must be time for all the other suggestions that the previous posters have suggested! (ie Sleep, homework, friends) One or two activities is PLENTY!

DO NOT let your Dh take the boys to get their hair cut alone the weekend before school starts. I found this one out the hard way this afternoon.
DO NOT buy supplies until you have the coveted "list."
