Well, we got in a car accident yesterday. Some lady wasnt looking what she was doing in the grocery store parking lot when she was backing out and she backed right into my car as we were driving by. She hit back passengers side door.
We are ok, it didnt even startle the baby. I was shaken up because she hit the backseat where the baby was. The car seat did great.

  • So glad everyone is OK.  Wouldn't replacing the seat be determined on what kind of accident it was in? What I am saying is if the other car only dented the outside of their car and never touched the car seat, would the seat still have to be replaced? I wouldn't think that it would in such an incident because the seat never received any trauma, assuming that it didn't of course. If the lady was backing up fast enough, and depending on the make and size of both vehicles, then yes it could have pushed the door in on the car seat rendering it unsafe. Regardless, the baby is fine and the car seat did its job.

  • This is a review, to me!  Sure, we can write about how comfortable the seat looks and all but I really think the ultimate score is how well the seat performs in an accident.

I'm glad to hear you guys are doing well!  I also don't know the procedure as far as replacing a car seat after an accident.  I'm pretty confident you'll research it and perhapd let us all know?

    Thank you!

    Glad everyone is okay!!!

As for replacing the seat, you will need to.  Compass requires you to replace a seat in the event of a crash...period.  They don't go by severity (like Britax does).  That person's insurance company should replace....just make sure you don't ASK them to, TELL them you need money for a replacement seat immediately.

I agree. I'm glad everyone's OK but definitly tell the insurance company that needs to be done RIGHT away!

  • Just an FYI you are suppossed to replace a carseat in the event of an accident.no matter the damage to the vehicle or seat If you have full insurance and the accident is your fault they will cover it. If it is someone elses fault their insurance will pay you for a new carseat. My nieghbor Had to replace her Britax car seat when she scratched the side of her van on a pole. The insurance company paid for it. All she did was run along side of a pole no jolting or anything. So it doesn't matter what brand you have they all have to be replaced after an accident of any sort.
