Trying to remember the name of a movie...

 My dd and I are trying to remember a name of a movie we saw a couple years ago, although I have no idea how old it is.  It stars a Native American and a white girl.  They are best friends in school but she leaves not realizing he is "in love" with her.  Years later she comes back home sick and dying.  He takes care of her until she dies.  I thought it was called "Forever and Always" but I guess I'm wrong.  Anyone help?

do you remember who was in it? If so go to IMDB.com and they would have the answer.
